Disabled Truck Causes Traffic Backup—Suspected Of Involvement In Multi Car Accident

I just got back from Tacoma, Washington and I wanted to report on some local traffic accident news which effects us all. According to various media reports a truck that became disabled on the 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks and is suspected of being involved in a multi-vehicle traffic accident on the 101 Ventura Freeway.
The disabled truck in question was in the middle lane of the 101 Freeway in the vicinity of Van Nuys Boulevard. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin the truck blocked the middle lane of traffic from about 5:30 a.m. until about 7:45 a.m. when it was moved out of the lanes of traffic.
It is suspected the truck was involved in a multi-vehicle accident that occurred in the westbound lanes of the Ventura Freeway in the vicinity of Sherman Oaks. Officer Martin stated that there were at least five other vehicles involved in the pile up and he had no other details including if there were any injuries sustained in the multi car crash. He also did not state the identity of the owner of the truck or if police had spoken with the driver.
Meanwhile in Orange County traffic accident related news a beleagured bike rider was struck by a van. The rider has only been identified as a 68 year old man and the accident occurred prior to 6 a.m. according to Sgt. Micheal MacDonald of the Fullerton Police Department. When the accident occurred the rider of the bicycle was thrown from his bike. He sustained critical injuries, including major internal injuries and head injuries. The man was transported to UCI Medical Center in critical condition according to Sgt. Michael MacDonald. He bicyclist’s condition has been reported as being critical but stable.
